Reading, Chatting and a Hot Guy in Bed

For some reason, I find this pic incredibly sexy. His awesome back and gotta-grab-it butt could have something to do with it, though ;)

I hope everyone is having a great weekend. I spent the evening reading a book - More by Sloan Parker. It's a m/m/m novel and in 1st person. I know there are some who don't get into menages, but I really enjoyed the book, especially how the author took the time to fully develop the relationship to the point where the romance felt believable and real - not an easy feat with a m/m/m. Anyway, it was a good book and a nice way to spend an evening.

Sunday I'll be over at the Ethan Day Yahoo Group , chatting and posting excerpts and I'm also doing a giveaway. There will be a lot of fab authors hanging out, so pop on by if you're in the mood. Gay Day runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. CST. Of course, don't look for me to show up until after noon EST (god forbid I roll out of bed before noon on the weekend).

Cover & Freebie News

I don't usually post about my m/f books on the blog, but I got final cover art and I'm such a cover slut that I just can't not share it. *g*
It's it beautiful? I love my publishers - they give me such great cover, and Berkley really outdid themselves with the cover for Seven Nights to Forever. The book won't be out until 11/2010, but for anyone who is interested in m/f Regency romances, you can read an excerpt on my Evangeline website.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming. I'm still working on the work in process. In fact, it's got me thinking about posting a freebie. That, and Shawn Lane. She's going to post a new freebie on her blog in the next week or so featuring Kevin from Car Wash (love him - he's so damn cute!), and it got me thinking about doing a freebie for Oliver and Vincent. There's a scene with them that's begging to be written, so much so that I already have notes typed up for it. So, I'm going to finish it within the next couple weeks. There. I committed to it. You are all witnesses. ;) I will likely create a little freebie page on my website and post it there, but I'll let you all know when it is up.

And here are a few hotties as a thanks for letting me squee about the cover with the chick on it. *g*

A Hot Little Snippet

I hope everyone had a nice weekend. I spent the last few days judging contest entries and writing up a short synopsis for a possible new Evangeline book. If I haven't mentioned it before, let me just tell you how much I hate writing a synopsis. It's pure pain. Torture. Just ridiculously difficult to cram a book into a few pages. But at least it's done now and I can turn my attention back to the work in process.

Since I don't have anything exciting to report, I figured I'd share an excerpt from Object of His Desire. Though it released after Bound By Deception, it actually has the distinction of being the first m/m book I ever wrote. So without further ado, here's a hot little snippet from chapter 5.

Arsen arched one eyebrow. If Henry liked this, he was sure to like— He dropped down, took Henry’s ballocks into his mouth and applied suction.

“Ah, yes!” Henry’s shout rattled Arsen’s eardrums.

Henry shifted beneath him. Not wanting to accidentally hurt him—for teeth on that part of a man’s body was most unpleasant indeed—he lifted his head, releasing Henry’s ballocks.

The next instant Arsen found himself flat on his back. Damn, Henry was strong. Arsen hadn’t been flipped about so effortlessly by another since he had been a mere lad.

The glass bottle in one hand, Henry straddled one of Arsen’s thighs. His short light brown hair stuck up at odd angles, his cheeks flushed. Trepidation coiled low in Arsen’s belly as Henry poured a generous amount of golden oil onto his palm. He eyed Henry’s fully hard cock; the thick glistening length, the flushed needy head. His arse tingled, tightened. Maybe now would be a good time to mention—

Henry reached down. Arsen opened his mouth, the refusal on his tongue, when a large oil-slicked hand wrapped around his prick.

“Found this,” Henry said, waggling the glass bottle in one hand while he stroked Arsen’s cock with the other. “For some reason, I think you intended to do more than merely suck me off.”

“Perhaps.” He sucked in a breath as Henry massaged the head of his cock. Henry’s oiled fingers slipped luxuriously over his skin.

“‘Perhaps’ my arse.” Henry let out a bark of laughter. “Perhaps my arse, indeed.”

Henry flashed him a grin that made his heart leap. Arsen couldn’t remember the last time he’d seen Henry smile. A true genuine smile. Carefree. Happy. Could being with him possibly make Henry happy?

But Henry didn’t give him the opportunity to ponder such deep thoughts, for the man straddled his hips and guided Arsen’s cock to his entrance.

“Oh, yes,” Henry moaned, eyes drifting closed, hand still wrapped around the base of Arsen’s cock, holding it steady as he slowly lowered.

Arsen grabbed Henry’s hips. His fingers dug into the smooth skin as he fought the almost unstoppable impulse to slam Henry down onto his prick. Instead, he held still, let Henry take him at his own pace.

“That’s it. Take me, Henry. Take—” The words turned into a groan, deep and guttural, as Henry’s damp ballocks pressed against Arsen’s groin, the weight of his heavy cock resting on Arsen’s pelvis. Pre-come leaked from the tip, wetting Arsen’s skin. He squeezed his eyes shut. Scorching hot heat surrounded his cock. And tight, so goddamn tight. An impending orgasm gripped his ballocks in a vise-like hold. “Fuck me. Fuck me, Henry,” Arsen gasped.

Warm puffs of air fanned his face. Arsen opened his eyes.

Braced on his arms, Henry loomed above him, his full lips parted and glistening wet from their kisses. “Say please.”

Teeth bared, Arsen growled.

“Say it. I won’t move until I hear the words from your lips.” Henry smirked, full of confidence and sexy as hell.

New Look & Chatty Vamps

It was an absolutely beautiful day here today. 60 degrees and sunny. Doesn't get much better in the midwest in March. Of course, it's supposed to get crappy and rainy again by the weekend, but I'm going to savor the beautiful weather while it lasts.

I've been toying around with a new header design for my website for a few weeks and finally settled on a final version tonight. My webchick (who's awesome) updated the site. So if you want to check out the new header, pop on over to my website. I'm still trying to determine if I like it better than the original version. It looks kinda...odd because I'm not used to it yet. My thanks goes out to Barbara for pointing me to a photoshop how-to site. Layer masks....they're my new fun toy to play with. :)

I'm continuing to work on the latest work-in-process. Didn't get as much done as I had hoped last weekend. I blame Raphael and Aleric. Lazing in bed Saturday morning resulted in the middle and end of the other book for them, so of course I had to type it up that night. For anyone who is wondering, From Afar was planned to be the start of a series. Book two will feature Roman and Grant, with Raphael and Aleric (with Roman and Grant making appearances) in book three. Well, that's how it is currently planned. We'll see if it changes as I get closer to working on the books. For now, I want to finish the current WIP, then there are two new heroes that must be written next. So the vamps will have to be content to wait their turn.

Finally Saturday

I'm so glad it's the weekend. Fridays are usually decent days, but this week I had to sit through a 9-5 meeting. I mean really - 8 hours?? At least it's over and I can officially say I endured it. Anyway, my goal is to get some serious writing done on the new work in process this weekend. It's coming along, though slowly, but I'm pleased with it so far.

In other news, the GLBT Bookself is holding a March rummage sale as a fundraiser, so pop on over if you are interested.

Only In His Dreams, the first in Shawn Lane's new Only Forever series, releases this weekend from Amber Allure. The book's awesome, and I'm not just saying that because she's my critique partner ;)

As a happy new book release weekend present, I found this new pretty for Shawn. I'm sorry to say she's not into sharing her pretties, but Aden and Jordan (today's hotties) are totally up for grabs, and they're nekkid. *g*

A Pretty Darn Good Liar

First thing for today, Shawn Lane's running a contest for her 3/14 release, Only In His Dreams. If you're in the mood to throw your name in the virtual hat to win a free copy, pop on over to her blog.

Apparently I'm a pretty darn good liar, at least here. IRL, I suck at it. Horribly. I'm not even good with keeping a secret about good news. My 'try to not smile and not look too happy' face, is me trying not to smile and failing miserably.

Without further babbling, here are the answers to yesterday's "Creative Writer" meme:

1. I hate math. It was my worst subject in school. FALSE. I'm a total math geek. I love solving for x, it's so fun! I even have an engineering degree.

2. I also write contemporary m/f romances under another name. FALSE. I write m/f romance under another name, but they are Regencies, just like my m/m romances. I wish I could write contemps, I love to read them, but I just don't have the voice for them. My characters would end up sounding like stuffy old men.

3. I love diet coke. Can't start the day without one. TRUE. Diet coke is a gift from the gods!!

4. My favorite poparts are unfrosted strawberry poptarts. Oh, so yummy! FALSE. Not so yummy. I love poptarts, but I go for the sugary-sweet ones. Unfrosted strawberry is way too close to something that could approach healthy food, and the point of poptarts is that they are junkfood. Favorite variety - hot fudge sundae. Now those are OH, so yummy!!

5. Sex scenes are the hardest scenes for me to write. TRUE. Sex scenes are the hardest for me to write and take me the longest to write. Usually takes a good week to write one.

6. I'm a huge fan of football, never miss the games during the season. FALSE. I'm not a big sports fan and the only football game I watched start to finish this year was the Superbowl (because I was at a party), and I was thinking dirty thoughts about the players for most of the game ;)

7. My favorite season is winter, with all its beautiful snow and crisp, cool temperatures. FALSE. I HATE winter. Hate the cold temps, hate the snow, especially after my car got stuck in it the other week. I'm so glad it's March and winter is almost over.

Shawn got them both right, and it didn't take long for Barbara and Devon to realize I was being sneaking about #2 - the contemporary threw most of you off. And I noticed how all of the authors (and Maggie) guessed #5 correctly.

As a thanks for playing along, here are some hotties to enjoy. Shawn gets first dibs on Ole (hottie #1) - I know she likes the pretties and she guessed correctly. Though I'm sure Shawn will share Ole if you ask nicely ;)

Good Writer, Bad Liar

...because I just can't resist a beautiful back.

I've been oh so good this weekend and finished chapter 1 of my current work-in-progress. Shawn Lane can ever vouch for me, as she's already read it and given it a thumbs up (while catching my typos). I've even started chapter 2 tonight. All in all, a wonderfully productive weekend.

Devon Rhodes tagged me for a meme. The rules are simple - I list 7 things about me, 2 of which will be the truth and 5 will be lies. Simply leave a comment with your best guess for the 2 truths, and in a few days, I'll fess up in another post and let you know if your guess was correct.

1. I hate math. It was my worst subject in school.
2. I also write contemporary m/f romances under another name.
3. I love diet coke. Can't start the day without one.

6. I'm a huge fan of football, never miss the games during the season.

I'm not going to tag anyone, but if you haven't been tagged yet, feel free to play along.

Good luck! :)

Friday Updates

Today's man-candy is gay porn star, Marco Blaze. Yep, I've seen him in action so I don't need to use my imagination at all to know what he's got in his Calvin Kleins *g*

Elisa Rolle hosts an Inside Reader post where she asks authors to list their top 10 GLBT books and the reasons why they love them. Today I'm her Inside Reader. I doubt any of you will be surprised by my top 10 list, but to check it out head on over to her live journal. http://elisa-rolle.livejournal.com/975265.html I'll admit, I was a bit intimidated when Elisa first asked me if I wanted to do a post. Most of the other posts I'd seen were full of GBLT fiction, what I'd consider more high-brow books. Um...when it comes to fiction (GBLT or otherwise), pretty much all I read anymore are romances. So my list is a little different than previous posts by other authors. lol

I also have an interview up on A History of Romance today. A local author friend is part of the group blog and when she asked if I'd be interested in doing an interview, I of course said yes. I'm also doing a give-a-way as part of the interview.

That's about it for me today. I will say that I am finally writing something. I won't say what yet - need to finish chapter one before I feel like I'm really working on the book. But once I get some chapters behind me, I'll let you know which book idea the muse settled on.

Crushes

I was watching Underworld: Evolution tonight, and it got me thinking about celebrity crushes. You know, the 'spouse/significant other will excuse a fling if the opportunity ever came up... (and we all know the probability would be like the smallest of small percents)' type of crushes.

I've actually had a conversation with the hubby about this subject, and we've come to an understanding. Oddly enough (or maybe quite fitting, depending on how you look at it...), my girl crush is his girl crush, too. What can I say, the man has great taste ;)

My girl crush - Kate Beckinsale. The woman is simply beautiful and she has a perfect body (and she's had a kid), plus she's English. So she has the accent. I love, love, love men, but Kate could persuade me to briefly switch sides. And she's holding a diet coke *G* I'm not a coffee type of gal, but a diet coke one. Can't start the day without one.

My man crush - Rafael Nadal. What can I say, I have a thing for biceps and backs, and he's just perfect in that department. And he looks really hot when he's all sweaty, running around the court, swinging that racket.

Sigh...he has the best biceps.

I found the pic below tonight and just couldn't resist posting it. It's Rafael and another tennis player, right after a match at the Australian open (Rafael won the match). They are like *this close* to kissing. Just kiss him!! And the other guy's hand needs to be about 6 inches lower.
So do you have a celebrity crush? Please share - girl and man crushes - inquiring minds want to know!

Update - I just have to squee. From Afar is #2 on Samhain's bestseller list (well, My Bookstore and More's list). *g*
